Number Two-Hundred-And-Thirteen: Hard Light

I took this outside one morning last week. The light over that bank of clouds was so dramatic that I couldn't pass it up, even if this project is slightly saturated with trees and their silhouettes. WHO DOESN'T LOVE TREES?

I took the shot with the iPhone camera and them imported it into Camera+ where I cropped it and then used the Darken filter from Scenes then the Vibrant filter from Effects.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Twelve: Tree Of Life

My talented sister Alannah made our mom this beautiful Tree Of Life suncatcher for her birthday this year. Alannah complains about having little to no artistic talent but then she goes and does all kinds of artistic, creative stuff like it's no big thing. Whatever, La!

I took the picture with Camera+, cropped it, used the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu and then the Vibrant filter from the Effects menu.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Eleven: Just An Angel

Well, when you have such a cute kid it's difficult not to take pictures and then show them off. She's been sick again this past week and seriously being a freaking angel about it so I managed to capture a little bit of that here for you to see.

I took the picture with Camera+, cropped it to a square then used the Fashion filter from the Effects menu. It doesn't get lovelier.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Ten: Just Ridiculous

This was taken out in the backyard on a rather beautiful day. I loved the clouds behind the bare trees (as I always do.)

I took the shot with the iPhone camera then imported it into Camera+ then used the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu and the Magic Hour filter from Effects. It made the clouds kind of ostentatiously beautiful.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Nine: Bare

This is another shot that was taken from a moving car on the road between Kingston and Ottawa. I don't have my G2 license yet so when we're driving on 400 series highways I'm in the passenger seat which affords me lots of opportunity to take pictures.

I don't usually like quite this amount of obvious filtering but in this instance I liked the post-apocalyptic feel it gave the scene. I took the shot with the iPhone camera and imported it into Snapseed where I cropped it and then used a Vintage filter on it.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Eight: The Nicest

Mongkut is the most well-meaning yet stupid cat I've ever met in my life. So, so handsome and so, so dumb. All he wants out of life is affection and play and to sleep in the sun from the window. I wish my needs and outlook were so simple!

I took the pictures for this triptych with Camera+. I cropped all three pictures and used the Flash filter from Scenes on two of them and the Clarity filter on the upper right shot. I then used the Black and White filter from Effects on the left shot and the Magic Hour filter on the other two. After all that I brought the three of them together in Diptic to showcase Mongkut's awesomeness.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Seven: So Much Fluff

Today's picture is a shot of ridiculously fluffy Mang taking a nap in front of the living room window on Essie's bench. I love it when she curls up into a big, poofy lozenge.

I took the picture with Camera+, cropped it, used the Night filter from Scenes and the Magic Hour filter from Effects.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Six: Why So Serious?

This is the zipper from a purse that my mother gave me a while back. I hold my iPhone at the ready to take pictures quite often during long drives when I'm in the passenger seat and when I look down this is usually what I see on the screen.

I took the picture with Camera+, cropped it then used the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Five: Handsome Boy

It's my job to feed the cats around here and every morning and night these little beasts let me know it. Shelley especially gets into my personal space, and if he's not in my lap he's sitting near me and staring at me. Intently. With those yellow eyes and handsome stripes.

I took the picture with Camera+, cropped it to a square and then used the Contessa filter from the Effects menu.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Four: Cousins At Play

This shot was taken quite a while back, on the same day as Day 177 but I kept forgetting to ask Andrew's sister for permission to use this picture of her daughter; Essie's cousin Orla. He asked today, though, so here it is! The cousins went down this slide together a couple of times and I loved this action shot.

I took this one with the iPhone camera, and imported it into Camera+ for editing where I cropped it a bit and applied... a filter. I know I used a filter but it's been a little while and sadly I cannot now remember which one. Nice picture though, eh?

Number Two-Hundred-And-Three: Not Perfect

Again a shot I took driving home from St. Catharines this week. I liked the look of the vineyards all ready for spring and growth and all that jazz. I wanted to get the turbine centered in a row straight on and just missed managing it. Sigh.

I took the shot with Camera+ then used the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu and that's it.

Number Two-Hundred-And-Two: A Very RED Red

When we were leaving St. Catharines I requested a trip to a specific chocolate store; Chocolate FX. I wanted to try to find a specific kind of panned chocolate for my mom but unfortunately they didn't have what I was looking for. Instead they had an incredible range of other delicious chocolates so we went away with some of those instead! When we walked into the large showroom filled with thousands of colorful chocolates Essie said, "It's amazing!"

It was. I ended up with two packages of chocolate for my mom; chocolate cherries and chocolate raspberries. They're coated with a layer of colored white chocolate to evoke the red fruit inside and they're shiny and pretty and delicious so of course I couldn't help but take a photo of the cherries when we got home. I took the shot with Camera+ then cropped it, applied the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu then applied the Cyanotype filter from the Effects Menu at a very, very low intensity.

Number Two-Hundred-And-One: Horsie!

I took this shot on the way home from St. Catharines today. We were driving through wine country and I got a few vineyard shots but this horse grazing behind a fence really caught me. I love how the trees are budding and the sky is so clear and blue. Plus that horse is so shiny!

I took the shot with Camera+ then imported it into Snapseed where I cropped it and adjusted the ambiance just a little bit.

Number Two-Hundred: Off Again

I took this shot using Slow Shutter on the 401 today while we drove from Kingston to St. Catharines. I really love Slow Shutter. It gives very cool effects while driving especially and the colours in this one make me really happy.

I imported it into Snapseed and cropped it there. I played around with some filters but in the end left the colour as it is.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Nine: Shelley Is Cute

Shelley hasn't gotten enough attention in this project! Such a sweet little tabby boy. I always say (when he's lounging like an otter in my lap and hoping I'll never stop rubbing his belly) that if he were a stuffed toy he'd be the super-expensive kind. He would! He's so chubby and plushy and huggable.

Anyhow; he is adorable and deserves to be highlighted just as much as his purebred Siamese adopted brother. I took this shot with the iPhone camera and imported it into Snapseed where I cropped it and used a Drama filter on it.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Eight: Doodle Bird

It's kind of old school up in AOMi today. I doodled this picture in an app called Drawing Kids. It's basically a simple little app meant for kids to draw with, using a multicoloured pen that gives a nice glowing effect.

When I say simple I mean simple. It has a button that you can trash your whole drawing with or you can shake your phone to clear it. That's it, other than a save/share function. I did discover that just tapping the screen gives a muted dot of colour which I used in the background for this floating bird. Don't ask what kind of bird it is; I do not know.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Seven: Clove Giraffe

This is the giraffe clove air freshener that my sister hangs in the car. I've been trying to get a good close-up picture of the cloves for a while now but it never seems to work very well. This is the best shot I've gotten so far. I like how the cloves look like old burned bones tied together.

I took the shot with Camera+ and cropped it, then used the Fashion filter from the Effects menu.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Six: Silhouettes

This is the tree in my mom's front yard, taken with the morning sun behind it. Every picture I take of that tree has that streetlamp in it. I like the straight, unyielding lines against the ever-changing tree, though.

I took the shot with Camera+, then imported it into Snapseed where I cropped it and used a Vintage filter on it.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Five: The Most Sad. Ever.

Oh man. Three years old. I've been complaining about it a lot for, oh, the entire month and a bit since Essie turned three. Honestly, though, it was like some switch got flipped and she is exploring a lot of new concepts that involve territory and personal autonomy and being a total pill.

Hooray! So I got this picture this morning as we sat on the stairs indoors while waiting for her ride to daycare. We usually play out in the driveway and yard but she kept getting close to the road and I had to keep bringing her inside to discuss why that's not OK. She was very upset about it all, although she did eventually behave.

Anyhow, I took the picture with Camera+ then imported it into Snapseed where I cropped it and used a Vintage filter on it. Then I imported that into Corel's Paint It! Now where I used an oil filter on it. After that I imported it into BlendCam where I combined the Snapseed version and the Corel's Paint It! Now version using the balance filter, then combined that result with the Corel's Paint It! Now version one more time to highlight the 'painted' effect just a touch more.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Four: Making Friends

Another Museum Of Nature pic, in the same room as the T-Rex from earlier this week. I'm not sure what dinosaur baby this is but I think Essie looks like she's trying to entice it over in this one and I love it.

I took the shot with Camera+, then cropped it and used the Clarity filter from Scenes then the Polarize filter from Effects.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Three: Birds!

Birds, birds, birds. I am definitely turning into a crazy bird lady in my old age. Our cat Shelley was watching birds out the window tonight and wishing he could catch a few for dinner so I took some pictures of the oblivious birds. I love that in the top picture it's all starlings except for the show-off mourning dove that's stretching its wings.

I took both pictures with Camera+ but imported them into Snapseed to edit them. For the tree shot I cropped it, then used a Vintage filter. For the bottom shot I cropped it then used a Drama filter. After that I imported them into Diptic to combine them.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-Two: True Love

So we spent an hour or so at the Museum Of Nature on Sunday afternoon in Ottawa. We had been pumping Essie up to see dinosaur bones and she was pretty excited about it but she LOVED the room with the realistic dinosaurs. I got a few nice shots of her admiring them but I really enjoyed this one where she was trying to reach and jump up as high as the T-Rex's face.

I took all the pictures at the museum with Camera+, but imported this one into Snapseed where I cropped it, used a Black And White filter and then finished it off with the Drama filter.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety-One: Late Day Sky

We took another day trip to Ottawa today so Essie could see her Grandma and Grandpa there (plus Great-Grandpa a little later on.) We went to our favourite Vietnamese restaurant and then headed off to the Museum Of Nature. I'll have some photos from that later this week, but I couldn't resist posting this shot of the sky I took on the way home.

I took the picture with Camera+ and all I did to edit it was use the Polarize filter in the Effects menu.

Number One-Hundred-And-Ninety: Painted Starlings

Another starling picture, but done up a bit differently this time. I started with taking it on the iPhone camera and then imported it into Camera+. I cropped it to a square, used the Vibrant filter from the Scenes menu and then the Magic Hour filter from the Color Effects menu. After that I imported it into Corel's Paint It! Now and used the Oil filter on it.

I know it's kind of hard to tell there are starlings in this one, but there are! And I loved what the Oil filter did to the tree branches.

Number One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Nine: That Face

This is another picture I took while we were in Ottawa a couple of weekends ago. It was taken on the same day as Day 177 and at first passed it over because you can't see Andrew's face as well. Something about the curve of the monkey bars and that beautifully happy expression on her face kept me coming back to it, though, and I knew I had to use it.

I took this one with the iPhone camera but imported it into Camera+ where I used the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu and then the Faded filter from the Effects menu.

Number One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Eight: The Poop Tree Is Budding

This tree grows in our lovely neighbour's yard (we went to high school together and she really is lovely) and every year I privately make merciless fun of it because it looks like it grows a fine crop of lumpy poopy tumors on its branches. During the summer the leaves cover up the poops but I have no idea what kind of tree this is so I have no idea what to call it. You know; other than Poop Tree.

Isn't it lovely against the blue sky? I took the shot with Camera+ and used the Clarity filter from Scenes then the Sunkissed filter from Effects.

Number One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Seven: Ittle Lambsie Divy

I took this shot of some of my Mom's climbing ivy outside yesterday in the morning sun. I loooove ivy (who doesn't except for architects and heritage preservationists?)

I took the picture with Camera+ then cropped it and used the Clarity filter from the Effects menu. I really love the glowing veins in the leaves.

Number One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Six: More Found Art

Here's another of the little found-object art installations I saw at the waterfront the other day. I love how this one incorporated the triangular rock in the ground and the Christmas lights.

I took the picture with the iPhone camera but imported it into Camera+ where I cropped it then used first the Clarity filter from the scenes menu and then the Vibrant filter from Effects.

Number One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Five: Daddy And Daughter

This weekend was filled with lots of driving around and taking pictures. Today's shot is one I took along the water near KGH and seriously, it was all Andrew could do to keep Essie from just throwing herself out there into Lake Ontario. She spent a lot of time chucking rocks into the water but every now and again she'd start trying to climb down to get at the water. What a kid.

I took the photo with the iPhone camera and when we got home I imported it into Camera+ where I used the Clarity filter from the scenes menu and then the Vibrant filter from Effects. I go through phases where a certain app and combo of filters are what I used most and this is a phase, I guess. I'm loving the richness of the colours.

Number One-Hundred-And-Eighty-Four: Up At The Fort

I took today's picture on a trip up to Fort Henry this afternoon. It was a grey, cloudy, rainy day but I got some nice shots nonetheless!

I took this shot with Camera+ then cropped it and used the Clarity filter from the Scenes menu on it to make it nicer.
